Austria’s consumer price inflation eased in September on lower fuel prices, figures from Statistics Austria showed Friday.

The consumer price index gained only 0.7 percent on a yearly basis after rising 1 percent in August. It was the lowest since January.

Month-on-month, consumer prices climbed 0.4 percent in September.

Harmonized consumer price inflation fell to 0.6 percent from 0.9 percent a month ago. From August, the HICP rose 0.6 percent.

Food and non-alcoholic beverages prices increased 0.8 percent and alcoholic beverages and tobacco climbed 3.1 percent. Meanwhile, cost of transport slid 4.3 percent.
