California Senator Barbara Boxer recently went on the Chelsea Handler show to talk about the democrats’ stunning defeat last week that handed all three branches of federal government to the Republicans.  The interview was mostly comprised of two liberals openly weeping over the stunning loss of their chosen candidate. That said, there was one moment of comedy (unbeknownst to Boxer and Handler) when Senator Boxer, in attempt to boast about the diversity of the democrats in the Senate, mistakenly referred to newly elected Illinois Senator, Tammy Duckworth, as a “Filipino woman” even though she’s actually of Thai descent…oops.  Per the Daily Caller:

Handler pointed out that Kamala Harris, a black woman, had become California’s U.S. senator. Boxer chimed in to list other women, along with their ethnicities, who won congressional seats in the latest election.

“She [Harris] will be the second African American; she’s part Indo-American. And then Tammy Duckworth from Illinois is Filipino,” Boxer declared Thursday.

Born in Thailand (not the Philippines), Duckworth just defeated Republican incumbent Mark Kirk for one of Illinois’ Senate seats.  Among other things, Duckworth is the first Asian American woman elected to Congress in Illinois, the first disabled woman to be elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, and the first member of Congress born in Thailand.  Duckworth is also an Iraq War veteran who served as a U.S. Army helicopter pilot and suffered severe combat wounds, losing both of her legs and damaging her right arm.

Isn’t it glorious when the shameless pandering of politicians backfires?
