Box Office Looks Mixed For Danny Boyle’s ‘Steve Jobs’

$CMCSA

The box office is looking mixed for the new nationwide title, Danny Boyle’s Steve Jobs, starring Michael Fassbender as the iconic innovator.

Friday, the critically acclaimed film will be playing everywhere after scoring the top location average of the year to date when opening in New York and Los Angeles 2 weekends ago. And last weekend, the $30-M Universal, a unit of Comcast Corp (NASDAQ:CMCSA) film did solid business when upping its theater count to a total of 60 locations.

However, Steve Jobs is tracking to earn $8 to 11-M  in its nationwide expansion from 2,493 theaters.

Jobs could enjoy a long run throughout awards season.

Aaron Sorkin adapted the script for the film, which also stars Kate Winslet, Seth Rogen and Jeff Daniels.

Steve Jobs could find itself in a close race with Paramount’s Paranormal Activity: Ghost Dimension, which looks to gross between $10.5-M and $12.5-M despite only playing in 1,656 theaters.

Have a great weekend, Jobs is a terrific film.
