Brazil’s unemployment rate increased as expected in June, figures from the statistical office IBGE showed Thursday.
The jobless rate rose to 6.9 percent in June, in line with expectations, from 6.7 percent in May. In the corresponding month of the previous year, the unemployment rate was 4.8 percent.
The latest figures was the highest rate for the month of June since 2010, when it marked 7.0 percent
The number of unemployed people remained stable at 1.7 million in June as compared to May, while increased by 44.9 percent compared to June 2014.
