The European Union leaders and the media this week called on Britons to stay in the Union. Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orban carried a full-page advertisement in the Daily Mail, a UK-based newspaper, to urge voters to vote in favor of remaining in the EU.

The ad says, “I would like you to know that Hungary is proud to stand with you as a member of the European Union.” The image contained Mr. Orban’s signature. French companies such as Airbus, BNP Paribas, Engie, Ingenico and Safran, released similar advertisements in British newspapers urging people to remain.

Donald Tusk, the president of the European Council too urged the voters to stay, “Stay with us. We need you. Without you, not only Europe, but the whole western community will become weaker.”

Several prominent newspapers in Europe has urged the Britons to stay put. German news magazine Der Spiegel published a special edition and the front page says, “Please Don’t Go” printed against the Union Jack. Sweden’s biggest financial daily called on the British voters saying, “Take A Chance on EU”. Dutch daily newspaper Algemeen Dagblad says on the front page “Don’t Leave Me This Way”, printed against the Union Jack.

Such overwhelming call for stay from Europe is very much likely to soothe Britons, who feel a lack of respect and influence of Britain in the Union.
