Profits earned by Chinese industrial enterprises increased for the first time in six months in April, figures from the National Bureau of Statistics showed Wednesday.
Industrial profits rose 2.6 percent year-over-year to CNY 47.95 billion in April, reversing a 0.4 percent fall in the preceding month. It was the first annual increase since September last year.
During the first four months of the year, total industrial profits declined by 1.3 percent as compared to the corresponding period last year. In the first quarter, the decrease was 1.4 percent.
Among sub sectors, profits earned by mining industry plunged 60.7 percent annually in the January to April period, while manufacturing sector registered an increase of 6.2 percent.
