China Supports Hong Kong’s Economic Development
China’s Commerce Minister Gao Hucheng said Tuesday that his ministry will continue to improve Mainland-Hong Kong co-operation and support the city’s economic development.
The Ministry of Commerce (MOC) will fully implement the Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement (CEPA) between the Mainland and Hong Kong, and work to increase co-operation in the service sector, said Gao at a news briefing.
The MOC will encourage Mainland companies to partner with Hong Kong firms to explore overseas investment and the wider foreign market, according to Gao.
The ministry will continue to back Hong Kong in international and regional co-operation and further cement the city’s status as a global financial, trade and shipping hub.
Gao said the MOC will also encourage Hong Kong to join the Mainland’s 4 FTZ’s (free trade zones) in Tianjin, Shanghai, Fujian and Guangdong and share more benefits from the Mainland’s opening up.
