Crude oil futures were lower Thursday, staying a away from a multi-month high set earlier in the week.

Baker Hughes reported the U.S. total weekly active drilling-rig count was down 12 to 464, a record low.

Companies continue to shut down apparatus until a more sustained rebound in oil prices makes production more lucrative.

May WTI oil settled at $39.46/bbl on Nymex, down 0.8 percent for the day. Prices dropped 1.4 percent for the week — the first weekly loss in five.
