Crude oil prices edged lower Thursday, extending weekly looses despite a weaker U.S. dollar.

The American Petroleum Institute late Wednesday reported that crude supplies jumped by 9.3 million barrels for the week ended Oct. 9, a much larger rise than analysts were expecting.

Energy Information Administration is out with official data later this morning.

U.S. crude oil was down 56 cents at $46.07 a barrel in early dealing.

Crude oil supplies are seen rising and demand dwindling amid an uncertain global economy.
