Czech current account deficit increased in the three months ended September, mainly due to the decline in the goods and services trade surplus, data from the Czech National Bank showed Friday.
The current account deficit widened to CZK 29.3 billion in the third quarter from CZK 14.6 billion in the previous quarter.
The goods and services trade surplus shrank to CZK 59.3 billion in the September quarter from CZK 76.8 billion in the preceding three-month period.
At the same time, the deficit in the primary income dropped marginally to CZK 86.6 billion in the September quarter from CZK 88.2 billion in the second quarter. The secondary income deficit also narrowed to CZK 20.02 million from CZK 31.8 million.
The capital account surplus came in at CZK 7.9 billion in the third quarter, up from CZK 5.2 billion in the prior quarter. Meanwhile, the financial account turned to a deficit of CZK 2.0 billion from a surplus CZK 51.6 billion
