Denmark’s consumer price inflation eased to four-month low in August, figures from Statistics Denmark showed Thursday.
The consumer price index rose 0.5 percent year-over-year in August, slower than previous month’s stable increase of 0.7 percent. Consumer prices have been rising since February.
The latest rate of inflation was the weakest since May, when prices grew the same 0.5 percent.
The underlying inflation, excluding energy and unprocessed food, climbed 1.3 percent annually in August.
Prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages went up 0.8 percent in August from a year ago and that for clothing and footwear increased by 1.9 percent. At the same time,, transport cost fell 0.8 percent and costs for communication decreased by 4.7 percent.
On a monthly basis, consumer prices dropped 0.3 percent in August.
The EU measure of inflation, or HICP, rose at a slower pace of 0.3 percent in August, following a 0.5 percent climb in July. Month-on-month, the harmonized index of consumer prices fell 0.3 percent.
