FXStreet (Córdoba) – Jeroen Dijsselbloem, the Dutch finance minister and Chair of the Eurogroup of finance minister, dampened hopes of an imminent deal this week.
Dijsselbloem said a deal is not theoretically possible to struck a deal this week and creditors won’t meet Greece halfway.
As long as it doesn’t meet economic conditions, we can’t come to an agreement,” said Dijsselbloem. “It’s not right to think that we can meet halfway.”
This headlines come amid optimism Greece could reach a deal with lenders after a 5-way meeting between Merkel, Hollande, Juncker, Lagarde and Draghi yesterday at Berlin. There were speculations the leaders would draft a proposal for Greece, but a government official has said the Hellenic country hasn’t received an agreement plan from the institutions.
