The Labor Department is set to release non-farm payrolls report for October at 8:30 am ET Friday. The economy is expected to add 184,000 jobs in October, up from a gain of 142,000 jobs in September. The jobless rate is seen falling to 5.0 percent from 5.1 percent in September.

The greenback strengthened against the franc, euro and the pound but held steady against the yen ahead of the data.

The greenback was worth 0.9967 against the franc, 121.88 against the yen, 1.5146 against the pound and 1.0862 against the euro as of 8:25 am ET.
