The Commerce Department is scheduled to release its personal income and spending report for December at 8:30 am ET Monday. Economists expect personal income growth of 0.3 percent month-over-month in December, while consumer spending may have risen a more modest 0.1 percent.
Ahead of the data, the greenback declined against its major rivals.
The greenback was worth 1.0880 against the euro, 1.4294 against the pound, 121.25 against the yen and 1.0200 against the franc as of 8:25 am ET.
