The U.S. retail sales and producer prices for December are due at 8:30 am ET Friday.
Ahead of the data, the greenback showed mixed trading against its major rivals.
While the greenback declined against the euro, yen and the franc, it climbed against the pound.
The greenback was worth 1.0922 against the euro, 117.07 against the yen, 1.4340 against the pound and 1.0023 against the franc as of 8:25 am ET.
