The Labor department is due to release U.S. consumer price inflation for October at 8:30 am ET Tuesday. The inflation is forecast to rise 0.1 percent on year, after being flat in the previous month.

Ahead of the data, the greenback held steady against its major rivals.

The greenback was worth 1.0672 against the euro, 123.21 against the yen, 1.0128 against the franc and 1.5211 against the pound as of 8:25 am ET.
