Donald Trump, America’s Gun Carrying Advocate
Saturday, GOP front running presidential candidate Donald Trump defended the Second Amendment of the US Constitution, telling supporters in Tennessee that he has a concealed carry permit in New York.
“I have a license to carry (a gun) in New York. Can you believe that?” Donald Trump told a cheering crowd in Franklin, TN. “Somebody attacks me, oh, they’re gonna be shocked.”
He also praised the 1974 Charles Bronson film “Death Wish” saying that “today you cannot make that movie because it’s not politically correct.”
Mr. Trump also read his platform on how to protect the Second Amendment and address gun violence like Thursday’s mass shootings at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, OR. “This is about self-defense, plain and simple,” he said.
His plan includes defending the rights of law-abiding gun owners, as well as strengthening the national FBI’s background checks system and increasing mental-health services.
Donald Trump also wants to allow US Military personnel to carry hand guns on bases.
“It’s not the guns, it’s these sick people,” he said, later adding: “They have background checks already in place. That was done in 1998, but people slip through — and our government is not doing a good job.”
He also called for a “National Right to Carry,” in which a concealed carry permit issued in 1 state would apply throughout the country.
“I’m a very big Second Amendment person,” Donald Trump said to cheers from the audience. “It is very, very important to me.”
