Donald Trump Can Secure The GOP Nomination For President
If 2 Key factors work in Donald Trump’s favor, he can secure the GOP nomination for President.
The 1st is the number of voters who now say they are willing to consider voting for Mr. Trump, and the 2nd, is what will happen to Mr. Trump’s support as the GOP field narrows.
In May, just 20% of Republican primary voters said that they could consider supporting Mr. Trump for the nomination, according to survey data. That number in August is now 54%.
By comparison, the number of Republican voters who say they cannot see themselves supporting him has dropped from 51% in May to 33% in August.
The WS-J notes that the numbers are similar to those of other candidates, such as former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and Senator Marco Rubio (FL), showing that voters see them as a possible option to their favorite candidate.
In the latest poll from Quinnipiac University, Mr. Trump was leading the field with 28% of the vote, but that means that almost 7-in-10 Republican voters support other candidates.
The other Key question about the nomination is whether voters will move into the Trump’s camp as other GOP candidates drop out of the race.
According to the WS-J, the type of voters who support Mr. Trump, also support Ben Carson, MD, Senator Ted Cruz (TX), and former Senator Rick Santorum (PA).
However, Senators Carson and Cruz are currently polling well and are not likely to drop out of the race soon. This fact may help candidates other than Mr. Trump according to the WS-J.
Trumpeting for Trump
Have a terrific weekend.
