Donald Trump Does Not Give Up, “Deal With It”
Time Magazine’s latest cover explains Donald Trump’s spectacular rise and commanding domination of the 17-person field of Republicans seeking the presidency in just 3 words, “Deal With It.”
The Time Mag article provides a “reality check for America” and the myriad political pundits and strategists who since the state have dismissed Donald Trump’s candidacy as a fleeting, doomed to crash and burn.
“The biggest people are the people that never gave up,” Trump explained to Time’s Michael Scherer. “It’s something I’ve just observed over the years. I don’t give up.”
The bold, unscripted Trump campaign is like nothing Americans have ever seen and exactly what has drawn people across the country to line up behind him.
“If you want to understand what is happening in the country right now, to get at its shifting ID, its calcifying frustrations, its guttural demand for change, you need only listen to that message of disgust, for the political system, its falsehoods and failures, which has taken Trump to the top of the Republican polls,” Mr. Scherer writes.
“He talks about foreign policy like it was a casino deal and the American economy like it was steel rebar, just waiting for a smarter guy to take the construction crane’s controls. ‘When was the last time that you saw this country have a victory? We don’t have victories,’ he tells reporters. ‘What things am I going to do different? Almost everything.’ And then, on his plans for a great wall on the southern border, which he says he can threaten Mexico to fund: ‘Nobody is going through my wall. Trump builds walls. I build walls.’”
To the shock of fellow GOP candidates, seasoned political vets, and pundits who denounce the real estate tycoon’s political inexperience and brash delivery, Donald Trump has trounced his primary competition and seems to relish in hurling invective insults and coarse aspersions their way.
He’s having “Way too much fun” to get out of the race anytime soon, according to W-P political reporter Chris Cillizza, who points to Mr. Trump’s penchant for the limelight as reason enough for him to stay in the race.
“The only thing better in his mind than being the center of attention in the business world is being the center of attention in the business and political worlds,” writes Mr. Cillizza, adding that those who are counting Trump out have failed to account for “the fact that his angry, I-say-what-I-want-when-I-want message has found fertile ground among a not-insignificant cross section of voters.”
And because Donald Trump the candidate has upended any rules American politicians have ever relied on to get elected, there’s no blueprint for how it might shake out.
“Trump will not hire a pollster. He does his own debate prep, does not spend on advertising, refuses to seek big campaign contributions and says he gets military advice from watching pundits take on TV.
“His campaign slogan, which he has trademarked, printed on hats and warned rivals not to use, is “Make America Great Again.”
Since a Trump implosion has not occurred already it is not likely to happen.
Donald Trump is having a great time, the American people love him, he is going to be with us for a long time.
Trumpeting for Trump.
