Donald Trump, End The Debates There Has Been Enough
Republican front-runner Donald Trump said there have been enough Presidential candidate debates and signaled that he may not participate in the 21 March event in Salt Lake City, UT
“I think we had enough debates,” Donald Trump said Friday. “How many times do you have to give the same answer to the same question?
At a press conference in which he was endorsed by Dr. Ben Carson, Donald Trump said Thursday’s CNN debate moderated by Jake Tapper was “a good way to finish off the debate season.”
“I think it would be nice to finish off with this one,” he said. “I thought CNN did a fantastic job last night. I thought Jake was a great moderator.”
When asked specifically if he would participate in the 21 March event he said, “I didn’t know there was a next debate, “I thought last night was our last debate.”
The debates have been a ratings windfall for the networks and that he would consider continuing participating if the proceeds went to charity.
“I would do the debate if the network agreed to give all the money to the Wounded Warriors or veterans,” he said. “But the networks are making a fortune on these debates. The ratings for the debates are through the roof. But I think it’s time to end the debates.”
The Salt Lake City debate is the last one listed on the Republican National Committee’s (RNC) debate schedule. It did not specify which network was scheduled to carry the event.
“I think we had enough,” Trump said. “The networks want them, I don’t think the candidates want them.”
Donald Trump is running nearly 15% ahead of Marco Rubio in 3 new polls in his home state, casting a shadow over Senator Rubio as the race approaches that will likely decide if he stays in the race for the GOP Presidential nomination,
- Trump: 39.9%
- Rubio, 25.2%
- Ted Cruz, 18.2%
- John Kasich, 8.6%
Donald Trump’s strongest support comes from White voters without a 4-year college degree, especially blue-collar Evangelicals. He speaks to their economic anxiety when pledging to bring jobs back to the US and stop illegal Immigration, and blocking radical Muslims from entering the country under and conditions
Donald Trump may not worship at the same church or share the theology of most Evangelicals. But he is a Voice for the disenchantment they feel toward Washington, and their yearning for a strong leader to “Make America Great Again.”
