Donald Trump Is Now At The Helm Of The Republican Party
Sunday, GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump said he did not make a statement attributed to him by a friend in New York Magazine Friday vowing to take down rival Jeb Bush, but he said Mr. Bush would make a horrible president.
“This Week” host asked Trump about a quote attributed to a friend of his in which he said, “If I’m going down then Bush is going down with me. He’s not going to be president of the United States.”
Mr. Trump denied making the statement, saying it was the 1st he heard of it.
“That’s totally false. I do not know where this stuff comes from,” Mr. Trump told “This Week.” “I do not mind Jeb Bush. I think he is a nice person but I do not think he has the energy. You need energy for this job. You cannot be nice or soft.”
If Mr. Bush becomes president, “good luck,” Mr. Trump said. “It’s another Bush. It’s going to be the same old story.” A Bush-Clinton alliance…
Donald Trump was also asked about his immigration plan to round up all illegal immigrants, then expedite the legal return of those who do not have criminal backgrounds. .
“George (Stephanopoulos ), it’s called management,” Donald Trump said. My specifics are very simple. I am going to get great people that know what they are doing, not political hacks that have no idea what they are doing appointed by President Obama that do not have a clue.”
After a week’s of soundbites from presidential candidates about “anchor babies” and repealing birthright citizenship, it is now abundantly clear that Donald Trump has the helm of the Republican Party firmly in his grasp.
Trumpeting for Trump.
Have a terrific week.
