Donald Trump Need Not Apologize To Megyn Kelly
There is no need for Donald Trump to apologize to Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly, whom he welcomed back from vacation by tauntingly re-tweeting the words, “the bimbo [is] back in town.”
“It’s good publicity, it didn’t hurt him the first time,” conservative pundit Bill Kristol said Tuesday on TV.
“It seems like maybe it’s a little excessive. On the other hand, people in the news business say things about other people, so they should not be too thin-skinned. I am not really disturbed by it.”
Mr. Trump went to war with Ms. Kelly after she questioned him during the 1st GOP presidential debate about past remarks in which he called women he did not like “fat pigs,” “dogs,” “slobs” and “disgusting animals.” Mr. Trump narrowed the quip to apply just to Rosie O’Donald.
Mr. Trump went on to rip Ms. Kelly as “highly overrated,” and said she had “blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her … wherever.” Fox News Chairman Roger Ailes eventually brokered the peace.
But Tuesday, Mr. Ailes demanded an apology after Mr. Trump reignited the fight in a series of tweets and re-Tweets. Its good publicity for Donald Trump, Megyn Kelly and Fox News.
