Donald Trump Now Has Over 30% Of GOP Voters

Donald Trump now has the support of 32% of Republican voters for the GOP presidential nomination, according ot a new CNN/ORC poll, with Dr. Ben Carson in 2nd place, with 19%, giving the 2 outsiders the overall party lead.

The poll shows that 51%, of the GOP voters believe Mr. Trump will likely win the nomination, with 19% thinking former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush will come out ahead and 11% who think it will be Dr. Carson.

Donald Trump’s support has 3X’d since his campaign launch in June, and he has gained 8 pts since last month to gain support from 32% of a random sample of 1,012 adults in the poll, which was conducted between Sept. 4-8.

No other candidates broke the double-digit mark in the poll.

Donald Trump made large gains among women and college-educated voters, the poll shows, gaining 13 pts with women to rise from 20 to 33% and climbing from 16 to 28% among college graduates. He stands at 33% among those without degrees, up from 28% in August and at 31% with men, up 4 pts.

Mr. is also leading among GOP voters who back the Tea Party movement, the poll showed, gaining 41% support, up from 27% in August. Dr. Carson is in 2nd in that group with 21%, with Senator Cruz following at 3rd with 11%.

Mr. Trump’s push on the illegal immigration is also resonating with Republicans, the poll shows that 51% of those polled called the issue “extremely important.

The poll included 930 interviews with registered voters, including 474 Republicans or Republican-leaning independents, and carried a margin of error of 3 pts overall and 4.5 pts among Republicans.
