The Burj Khalifa has put the UAE on the map in more ways than one. The world’s tallest building has been ranked as one of Top 3 tourist attractions globally for taking selfies only in its fifth year of opening.

Attractiontix, a UK-based attraction booking site, analysed 219 million Instagram posts between October 2010 and January 2015 to come up with the list. The newest ‘global icon,’ Burj Khalifa ranks third after Eiffel Tower in Paris and Disneyland, Florida, and ahead of Empire State Building in New York City and London’s Big Ben.

Burj Khalifa is one of Dubai’s most-visited tourist attractions having earlier been crowned ‘Best Tourist Attraction in the Middle East’ at the Conde Nast Reader’s Choice Awards.

The must-visit tourist attraction in Dubai, Burj Khalifa has over 883,000 followers on Facebook (www.facebook.com/BurjKhalifa), over 24,000 followers on Twitter (@BurjKhalifa) and over 120,000 followers on Instagram (#BurjKhalifa) and an additional 66,600 plus Instagram (#MyBurjKhalifa) followers for At the Top, Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest observation deck.

Described as both a ‘Vertical City’ and ‘A Living Wonder,’ Burj Khalifa welcomes visitors to the observation deck on level 124, At the Top, Burj Khalifa, and At the Top, Burj Khalifa SKY, which has clinched the Guinness World Record for ‘Highest Observation Deck’ in the world.

Burj Khalifa is also the venue for the Downtown Dubai New Year’s Eve celebration, an unprecedented spectacle featuring the world’s highest fireworks that was among the most photographed and shared images on social media networks.
