Dutch producer confidence improved more-than-expected in June, marking its highest level in more than five years, figures from the Central Bureau of Statistics showed Wednesday.

The producer confidence index climbed to 5.4 in June from 4.4 in the previous month. Economists had expected the index to rise to 4.7.

The measurement took place in the first half of June, so before the referendum on the EU in the UK, the agency said.

Producers in the industry in June were more positive about their order books and production in the next three months. The assessment of stocks of finished products also improved.

In June, entrepreneurs in the wood and construction industry were the most positive, followed by the operators in the oil and chemical industries.
