Dutch retail sales growth accelerated in July after easing in the previous month, figures from the Central Bureau of Statistics showed Tuesday.

The retail sales volume excluding pharmaceuticals climbed 3.4 percent year-over-year in July, faster than the 2.3 percent rise in June. It was the third month of increase in a row.

Food sales rose at a faster pace of 1.6 percent annually in July, following a 1.1 percent gain in the prior month. Non-food sales recovered and inched up 0.3 percent, in contrast to a 1.0 percent fall in June.

Sales at supermarkets increased 2.1 percent in July from a year ago.

In value terms, retail sales excluding pharmaceuticals grew 3.2 percent yearly in July after a 1.4 percent hike in the preceding month.
