[AAP] – Energy and materials stocks are leading the Australian share market higher in the wake of a meteoric rise in iron ore prices and a strong performance by oil. The boost to commodities and materials stocks led a mixed session in the US overnight, offsetting declines in big technology stocks. IG market analyst Angus Nicholson said the iron ore price rise was due to a variety of factors, including investors’ positive reactions to the Chinese government’s announcement to boost growth.
