Estonia’s foreign trade deficit increased in November from a year ago, as exports fell and imports showed no variations, figures from Statistics Estonia showed Wednesday.

The trade deficit rose to EUR 101.9 million in November from EUR 67.1 million in the corresponding month of the previous year. In October, the shortfall was EUR 123.3 million.

Exports fell 4.0 percent year-over-year in November, while imports remained unchanged.

The decrease in exports was mostly influenced by a decline in mineral products and electrical equipment, the agency said.

Shipments to EU countries dropped 2.0 percent in November from a year ago. At the same time, arrivals from EU member states rose by 1.0 percent.

During the first eleven months of the year, total trade deficit of the country was EUR 1.3 billion versus EUR 1.5 billion in the same period last year. Both exports and imports slipped by 4.0 percent and 5.0 percent, respectively.
