FXStreet (Córdoba) – European Council President Donald Tusk said that he called tonight’s meeting to avoid a chaotic, uncontrollable “Graccident”. He stated that new dynamism was injected into Greek talks today after Athens submitted a new set of proposals. “Today’s proposals are a positive step….they will be assessed in the coming hours”.

Meanwhile, European Commission president Jean-Claude Juncker said the Eurogroup will meet again on Wednesday, and that he is confident that they will produce results for Thursday’s summit. “We will finalise the process this week”, he added.

“I’m convinced that we will come to a final agreement in the course of this week, for the simple reason that we have to find one”, says Juncker. When asked, Juncker said they didn’t discussed Greek debt relief nor capital controls at today’s meeting.

On a separate conference, German Chancellor Merkel said that all EU leaders were committed to reach a deal on Greece, and adds that additional talks must intensify. Chancellor said she hopes EU leaders on Thursday only have to take note of Eurogroup agreement with Greece.
