Eurostat releases euro area industrial production data at 5:00 am ET Wednesday. Output is expected to drop 0.5 percent month-on-month in August after rising 0.6 percent in July.
The euro showed mixed trading against its major rivals ahead of the data. While the euro was higher against the greenback and the franc, it eased against the yen and the pound.
The euro was worth 1.1413 against the greenback, 136.35 against the yen, 0.7440 against the pound and 1.0912 against the franc as of 4:55 am ET.
