At 5:00 am ET Wednesday, Eurostat is set to publish euro area foreign trade data for April. Economists forecast the trade surplus to fall to EUR 21.5 billion in April from EUR 22.3 billion in March.
Ahead of the data, the euro showed mixed trading against its major rivals. While the euro fell against the pound, it held steady against the U.S. dollar. Against the yen and the Swiss franc, the euro rose.
As of 4:55 am ET, the euro was trading at 0.7906 against the pound, 1.0834 against the Swiss franc, 1.1223 against the U.S. dollar and 119.32 against the yen.
