FXStreet (Mumbai) – The Bundesbank head and ECB governing council member Weidmann was on wires on Thursday stating that liquidity support for Greece should not be raised as the central banks have no mandate to safeguard the solvency of the banks.
Weidmann said it is the duty of the government to give ad hoc support for Greece. He further added that central banks should stick to the narrow interpretation of the mandate and welcomed that ELA is no longer being used to finance the capital flight.
