Jean-Claude Juncker, head of the European Commission, is most famous for a 2011 quote about the Greek financial crisis, during which he stated:
When it becomes serious, you have to lie.
But that’s just one of many disturbing statements from the man. In 2014, The Telegraph published a list of his most outrageous quotes.
As such, here’s some additional evidence of what a sleazy weasel this man is.
Juncker on EU monetary policy
“I’m ready to be insulted as being insufficiently democratic, but I want to be serious … I am for secret, dark debates”
Juncker on British calls for a referendum over Lisbon Treaty
“Of course there will be transfers of sovereignty. But would I be intelligent to draw the attention of public opinion to this fact?”
Juncker on French referendum over EU constitution
“If it’s a Yes, we will say ‘on we go’, and if it’s a No we will say ‘we continue’,”
Juncker on the introduction of the euro:
“We decide on something, leave it lying around, and wait and see what happens. If no one kicks up a fuss, because most people don’t understand what has been decided, we continue step by step until there is no turning back.”
Juncker on eurozone economic policy and democracy:
“We all know what to do, we just don’t know how to get re-elected after we’ve done it”
Clearly, this is a very sick and twisted human being, but it gets worse…
Yesterday, The Telegraph published the following:
Jean-Claude Juncker has revealed he has a little black book called ‘Little Maurice’ in which he lists the names of people who have “betrayed” him.
The European Commission President refused to reveal the names as he insisted he does not bear grudges.
It comes after Mr Juncker’s revealed the EU Commission is prepared to play “hardball” by appointing a former French minister who reportedly holds a grudge against Britain as head of its Brexit negotiations.
Mr Juncker told the Belgian daily, Le Soir, that he called his book ‘Little Maurice’,” where for 30 years I’ve made a note when someone betrays me.”
The book “doesn’t have many entries, because people rarely betray me”, he said.
“In Luxembourg, when someone was irritating me, I would say, ‘Careful, Little Maurice is waiting for you'”.
Last month Mr Junker announced the appointment of Michel Barnier, an arch-federalist, as Brussels’ chief negotiator for the UK’s exit talks with the EU.
This further proves the point that only the biggest lunatics amongst us tend to crave (and achieve) positions of political power; however, it signals something else. Namely, that EU leaders have learned no lessons from the Brexit vote, making chaotic collapse of the European Union ultimately inevitable.
As I noted in the June post, It’s Not Just the UK – Widespread Support for EU Referendums Seen Across the Continent:
So what can we conclude from all of this?
- Euro skepticism is on the rise.
- EU technocrats will fight back with sticks instead of carrots, furthering euro-skepticism.
- Great Britain will be the first, but probably not the last country to hold an EU referendum over the next 5-10 years.
- The EU as it stands is a failed experiment. This is proven by the inept and corrupt handling of both the Greek “bailout” program and the refugee crisis.
- The only solution is to increase decentralization and restore national democracy within the framework of some of the popular attributes the EU offers.
- EU technocrats are obsessed with a further centralization of power and will continue to push it against the will of the people.
- The EU will ultimately disintegrate as a result of overwhelming popular dissent to technocratic scheming and incompetence.
The only question is whether what comes next is better or worse.
Interesting times.
