F1 Bahrain GP: Ferrari Is Developing Towards F1 Title Bid

$RACE

Engineer Jock Clear says he firmly believes Ferrari is well on course to getting back to title-winning ways in the coming years based on the development he has seen since joining the operation.

The former MercedesAMG chief engineer started work with Ferrari this year after leaving its Key rival as part of the team’s ambitious recruitment drive to secure its 1st World Championship since Kimi Raikkonen’s success in Y 2007.

Indeed, Mr. Clear has noted improvements made by the manufacturer since he joined the Scuderia, but while he admits that knowledge of winning titles isn’t enough to base a Championship bid today, he feels it is helping the team forge a ‘direction’ to return to its best.

“If you were as good as you were 10 years ago, you won’t be anywhere near good enough now,” he said. “So the Championship I am going to win with Ferrari is going to be at a new level. It is going to be better than we ever were when we won Championships with other teams. That is the same for all of us.

“The fact is. What I know about winning championships is no longer good enough to win championships. So I have to evolve as well. I have to develop with the team. I am not coming here and saying I know what you need to do to win the Championship.

“That won’t work anymore, the sport moves too fast. And as such. I am developing with the team and I am confident that we are developing in a direction to win a Championship with Ferrari.”
