As we reported late last year, Exxon is directly in the crosshairs of a government push to punish those who deny climate change.
In addition to being investigated by the New York Attorney General, Exxon has been handed a subpoena by the AG of the US Virgin Islands, and also the Massachusetts AG Maura Healey – all of which are anchored in the claim that Exxon has lied to shareholders and consumers about the risks of global warming in its communications and shareholder filings.
Not everyone is standing by while the government attempts to punish those who disagree with its official policy stance however. Recall that Senators Ted Cruz (R-TX), Mike Lee (R-UT), Jeff Sessions (R-AL), David Vitter (R-LA) and David Perdue (R-GA) sent a letter to the United States Attorney General Loretta Lynch, demanding that these climate change witch hunts come to an end.
As part of Massachusetts AG Maura Healey's subpoena to Exxon, 40 years of internal company documents and communications was requested. As the Daily Caller reports, Healey demands decades worth of records from prominent think tanks, including the Heritage Foundation, and smaller, lesser known groups such as Boston's Beacon Hill Institute.
Another target of Healey's subpoena demanding communications with Exxon was the Center for Industrial Progress, a for-profit think tank founded by Alex Epstein.
Epstein is clearly not amused by the effort, and sent an incredibly epic response to the AG's office.

Given what's been allowed to transpire with the government going after its opposition, we're sure this won't end well for Epstein – however, kudos is in order for having the balls to say what most Americans think.
