FERRARI: The World’s Most Powerful Brand

$FCAU, $GOOGL, $KO

Ferrari is the world’s most powerful brand, according to the annual list compiled by leading brand valuation experts, Brand Finance.

Ferrari took the #1 spot of the Top 5 most powerful brands in Y 2013 ahead of the likes of Google (NASDAQ:GOOGL), Coca-Cola (NYSE:KO), PwC and Hermes on a list that includes the 500 most famous companies in the world.

Because of its size explains Brand Finance,  the Maranello company cannot compete with the large multinational brands in terms of overall revenues. However, its brand rating takes into account other financial metrics, such as net margins, average revenue per customer, and advertising and marketing spend, as well as brand affection and loyalty.

“It is always a pleasure to top any list and still more so when the competition includes some of the world’s most famous companies. This achievement proves that even in very tough economic times, Italy can still offer the world businesses of excellence,” commented the former Ferrari Chairman Luca di Montezemolo. “Behind this acknowledgement are exceptional products made by equally exceptional men and women. They made it possible and for that I thank them.”

Ferrari Takes over Direct Distribution in Australia

After a successful 7 year association with Neville Crichton’s European Automotive Imports Ferrari has taken control of distribution of its own products in Austral-Asia. Despite the move Neville Crichton will retain NSW retail responsibility for the marque from his relatively new Waterloo-based showroom.

The move to direct distribution should reduce the waiting time which is currently 3 years for some new models down to a minimum of 12 months. The company believes there is still significant growth potential in Australia and New Zealand.

Ferrari has been a part of the Australian automotive landscape for the past 61 yrs having sold more than 2500 cars in that time frame.

Ferrari is a unit of Fiat Chrysler Automotive NV (NYSE:FCAU) and is preparing an IPO of the firms shares on the NYSE in October this year.
