France’s economic growth is set to accelerate in the fourth quarter, the Bank of France said Monday.
According to the monthly index of business activity, gross domestic product will rise 0.4 percent in the final quarter of 2015 compared to a 0.2 percent growth estimated for the third quarter.
The business confidence index in manufacturing rose to 99 in October from 98 in September, while it was expected to remain unchanged at 98.
Industrial production accelerated in October as activity picked up in the automobile and chemical sectors. Business leaders expect production to continue to grow in November.
The business confidence in services also improved in October, to 98 from 97 in the prior month. In the services sector, activity continued to rise at a strong pace and it is forecast to rise in November.
The business sentiment indicator for construction rose marginally to 96 from 95 in September. According to business leaders, construction activity should be a bit more dynamic in November.
