French payroll employment almost stabilized in the third quarter, the statistical office Insee reported Thursday.
Payroll employment in the non-farm market sectors fell slightly by 900 or 0.0 percent, following an increase of 28,400 in the second quarter.
Excluding temporary work, employment decreased by 17,300 or 0.1 percent in the third quarter.
Employment continued to shrink in industry and construction. Job creation in industry decreased around 14,600 and that in construction fell 10,200 in the third quarter.
Overall, job creation slowed down in the market services sector. It climbed 23,900 after an increase of 47,900 in the previous quarter.
Payroll employment in competitive sector climbed 4,000 following an increase of 36,000 a quarter ago.
