French consumer confidence worsened further in March to the lowest level in seven months, survey results from the statistical office Insee showed Friday.
The consumer confidence index fell slightly to 94.0 in March from 95.0 in the previous month. In January, the score was 97.0.
This was the lowest reading since August 2015, when the score stood at the same 94.0
Households’ opinion of their past personal financial situation remained stable at -25 in March, while their opinion on future financial situation weakened to -14 from -10 in February.
The balance of opinion concerning their current saving capacity declined in March, with the index falling to 6.0 from 8.0 in the prior month. Similarly, the expected saving capacity dropped from -6 to -10.
Fears of households concerning unemployment decreased in March. The balance fell to 42 from 46 in February.
