The French current account deficit narrowed in March compared to the previous month, as the surplus on services trade increased, data released by the Bank of France showed Wednesday.
The current account deficit narrowed to EUR 1.5 billion in March from EUR 1.8 billion in the preceding month.
The surplus on services trade rose to EUR 1.6 billion from EUR 1 billion, mainly on higher commission revenues from intellectual property and lower service costs on insurance.
The deficit on trade in goods widened slightly to EUR 3.4 billion from EUR 3.2 billion a month ago.
The surplus on primary income and the shortfall in secondary income held steady.
The financial account balance turned to a deficit of EUR 17.6 billion in March from surplus of EUR 8.7 billion in the prior month.
