France’s current account turned to a surplus in September from a deficit in the previous month, largely due to the growth in the services trade surplus, the Bank of France said Thursday.
The current account balance showed a surplus of EUR 0.5 billion in September against a deficit of EUR 0.1 billion in August.
The surplus in the services trade grew notably from EUR 0.7 billion to EUR 1.8 billion in September.
At the same time, the goods trade deficit widened to EUR 1.6 billion in September from EUR 1.2 billion in the preceding month.
The capital account surplus shrank to EUR 0.1 billion in September from EUR 0.4 billion a month earlier. Meanwhile, the deficit on financial account narrowed to EUR 10.3 billion from 10.4 billion.
