The French manufacturing sector returned to growth at a faster than estimated pace in September, final data from Markit showed Thursday.
The manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index came in at 50.6, up from 48.3 in August. It was above the flash estimate of 50.4.
Output at French manufacturers increased for the first time in three months and the rate of expansion was the sharpest since March 2014.
At the same time, the decline in new orders eased to a negligible pace in September. Likewise, staffing levels decreased only marginally.
On the price front, the survey showed that input prices decreased for the first time in six months. Output prices continued to decline in September.
