The French trade deficit increased to a four-month high in September due to a fall in exports, the customs office said Friday.
The trade shortfall came in at EUR 3.38 billion in September compared to EUR 2.97 billion in the prior month. It was forecast to rise to EUR 3.05 billion.
This was the biggest deficit since May, when the shortfall was EUR 3.89 billion.
Exports fell 0.6 percent from the prior month to EUR 37.4 billion. Meanwhile, imports grew 0.5 percent to EUR 40.8 billion.
