Germany’s manufacturing turnover decreased for the second straight month in September, preliminary data from Destatis showed Monday.

Manufacturing turnover fell a seasonally and working-day-adjusted 1.1 percent month-over-month in September, following a 1.0 percent drop in August. In July, sales had risen 1.4 percent.

Domestic turnover declined 1.2 percent monthly in September and business with foreign customers also went down by 1.1 percent.

Sales to EU countries grew by 1.6 percent in September, while those to other foreign countries slid by 2.9 percent.

On an annual basis, manufacturing turnover rose a working-day-adjusted 0.7 percent in September, but much slower than the 3.1 percent gain in the preceding month.

During the first nine months of the year, manufacturing sales grew a working-day-adjusted 1.9 percent compared with the corresponding period a year ago.
