Sportsman’s Advocate and their flagship website SportsmansAdvocate.com (www.sportsmansadvocate.com) is a brand new website for hunters, fishermen, wildlife enthusiasts, and anti-hunting proponents. Visitors learn about issues surrounding outdoor sports and then discuss both the positive and negative aspects. Sportsman’s Advocate allows hunters, fishermen, and wildlife enthusiasts to learn, discuss, oppose, and raise awareness about issues that will affect them and their sport. Sportsman’s Advocate turns visitors into contributors with a platform to discuss both sides with factual, credible information and sources. Not only can hunters come on the site to facilitate talk and movements about their sport, but anti-hunters are welcomed as well to attempt to sway the public perception of hunting.

Not everyone within the hunting community are aware of the issues and laws that could be harming or helping the sport. Hunters and wildlife enthusiasts are in need of a platform where they can become informed about issues affecting them, particularly fringe and non-mainstream issues that otherwise would go unheard of. “We want a place to drive intelligent conversation,” states Wes Freeman, co-founder of Sportsman’s Advocate, a Texas based hunting media company. This site acts as a town hall for the hunting industry, sparking discussions about hunting. Topics are presented and changed weekly.

An important attribute to this site is not only are enthusiasts encouraged to join, but anti-hunters are welcomed and encouraged as well. There are three categories for communication within each issue presented; Good, Bad, and Everything Else. People that are pro-issue and have positive feedback, whether that be credible articles or just commentary, post in the good column and vice versa in the bad column. This site is designed to facilitate intellectual discussion on important topics and then to drive public action for or against the topic presented. The site also features a voting panel on the issues presented, then the results will be forwarded to credible sites weekly as the topics change.

SportsmansAdvocate.com is the brainchild of its 2 co-founders, one a lifetime avid sportsman, the other new to hunting. Working together with their passion of wildlife and the outdoors they found a shortage of platforms for issues for the sports of hunting and fishing. For both hunters and non-hunters Sportsman’s Advocate tackles one subject a week, but also gladly accepts topic suggestions and any article submissions.
