Greece’s import prices continued to decline in May, though at a slower pace than in the previous month, figures from the Hellenic Statistical Authority showed Wednesday.
The import price index fell 8.9 percent year-over-year in May, following a 9.2 percent decrease in April. Import prices have been falling since December 2012.
Among main industrial groups, import costs for energy tumbled by 28.2 percent in May and that for non-durable consumer goods dropped by 0.6 percent.
Prices of capital goods and intermediate goods were higher by 0.3 percent and 1.4 percent, respectively.
On a monthly basis, import prices rose 0.7 percent in May, slower than prior month’s 1.4 percent rise. It was the second consecutive monthly increase.
