Greece’s jobless rate dropped as expected in April, figures from the Hellenic Statistical Authority showed Thursday.

The seasonally adjusted jobless rate fell slightly to 25.6 percent in April, in line with consensus estimate, from 25.8 percent in March.

The latest jobless figure was the lowest since August 2012, when it marked the same 25.6 percent.

In the corresponding month of the previous year, the jobless rate was 27.0 percent.

The number of unemployed people decreased to 1.216 million in April from 1.295 million a year ago.

The youth unemployment rate, which applies to the 15 to 24 age group, dropped to 53.2 percent in May from 55.4 percent last year.
