Iceland’s EU measure of inflation eased in September after accelerating in the previous month, figures from Statistics Iceland showed Monday.
The harmonized index of consumer prices, or HICP, rose 0.9 percent year-over-year in September, slower than August’s 1.1 percent increase. It was the third consecutive monthly climb.
Prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages grew 4.4 percent annually in September, while transport costs declined by 4.1 percent.
On a monthly basis, the HICP fell 1.8 percent in September, reversing a 0.4 percent rise in the prior month. It was the first decrease in eight months.
