Indonesia’s consumer price inflation slowed at a faster-than-expected pace in October, figures from the Central Statistical Agency showed Monday.
The consumer price index rose 6.25 percent year-over-year in October, slower than the 6.83 percent climb in September. Economists had forecast the inflation to ease to 6.4 percent.
Prices of foodstuff grew 6.85 percent in October from a year ago and utility costs went up by 4.78 percent. Similarly, costs for transportation, communication and financial services surged 7.84 percent.
Month-on-month, consumer prices edged down 0.08 percent in October.
Excluding food and fuel, core consumer prices increased 5.02 percent annually in October and inched up 0.23 percent from the previous month.
