Ireland’s consumer prices dropped for the second straight month in October, figures from the Central Statistics Office showed Thursday.
The consumer price index fell 0.2 percent year-over-year in October, following a 0.3 percent drop in the prior month. In August, prices showed no variations.
Transport costs dipped 5.4 percent annually in October and prices of clothing and footwear went down by 3.3 percent.
On a monthly basis, consumer prices dropped at a slower pace of 0.2 percent in October after a 0.5 percent decrease in September.
The EU measure of inflation remained flat for the second straight month in October, while it was expected to increase by 0.1 percent.
Month-on-month, the HICP slid 0.3 percent in October, exceeding economists’ expectations for a 0.2 percent decline. In September, prices had fallen 0.5 percent. It was the second successive monthly decrease.
